Brief project description PRO ENFANT Burkina Faso
Module target:
In selected municipalities, state and civil society actors ensure better protection of children against violence, especially gender-specific violence, child trafficking and the worst forms of child labour.
Core issue:
Central actors at community level are not yet in a position to play an active role in child protection and the promotion of the welfare of the child.
Target groups:
Children and adolescents (under 18 years of age) in six municipalities in the southwest and east regions, as well as parents and other members of families and municipalities who are responsible for the welfare of the child and decide on the interests of children and adolescents.
Methodical approach:
The measure strengthens the capacity of local actors to respect, protect and promote children's rights. Through gender- and culture-adequate sensitization and counselling, their competence to implement child protection measures and to care for children in emergency situations is strengthened. Cooperation processes are optimized through the establishment and expansion of child protection networks at communal level. Through policy advice at national level, the approach of communal child protection is anchored and disseminated. The measure strengthens the participation of children, especially girls, in decision-making processes that affect them.
One international long-term expert, four national experts, one regional expert, one development aid worker and material goods will be deployed.
Key outputs:
1) The capacity of municipal decision-makers to plan measures to protect children from violence has been strengthened.
2) The provision of services to protect children from violence is improved.
3) The capacities of civil society actors to protect children from violence are strengthened.
4) The framework conditions for the implementation of child protection measures at municipal level have been improved.
The TC module cooperates with the FC module "Human rights / Combating child labour and child trafficking (Child and youth Fund/ Fonds Enfants et Jeunes / FEJ)".
Effects:
In the last months of the reporting period, the project established 4 new child protection networks in the 4 new municipalities in which the follow-up project will be active from January 2019. The decision to set up these networks at the end of 2018 was taken in order to save time at the beginning of the follow-up phase and to make the implementation of activities more efficient.
