Collaborate with us

GIZ works closely with other German development cooperation organisations such as KfW, Engagement Global and PTB. It also has links with European implementing organisations, for instance through the Practitioners' Network and Euroclima+. In addition, GIZ is as an implementation partner to regional organisations such as the African Union. 

Specialist German state organisations – such as universities and institutions for standardisation and quality assurance – often have an excellent reputation internationally. Their expertise enhances the quality of our work. In turn, working with GIZ allows them to expand their range of services and open up new and attractive areas of work.  

Administrative experts provide advice not only on legal and regulatory frameworks and specialist solutions. They also have valuable knowledge to ensure that good ideas work effectively in practice. [Link: Supporting municipal development cooperation worldwide] 

GIZ works with companies to promote sustainable business models and facilitate development policy commitment – including through the develoPPP programme. Private foundations are also key partners for GIZ.  

Civil society organisations are often drivers of change. GIZ works primarily with local and regional actors to develop sustainable solutions.

Universities and other scientific and research institutions such as think tanks support international cooperation with critical analysis, expertise and evidence. They identify challenges and point out ways to make GIZ's work even more effective and innovative. We therefore work with a host of science and research actors from the Global North and South.

GIZ cooperates regularly and in diverse ways with multilateral organisations such as UNICEF, the World Bank and the OECD. The working methods and expertise of the different actors complement each other.  

In recent years, GIZ has also become an implementation partner for large multilateral trust funds through accreditation, for example with the Green Climate Fund and the Global Partnership for Education.
