Facility Management (Bachelor of Engineering)

You will study modern facility management, which is a crucial factor in the success of the company. Our facilities, their use concepts and the relevant technological development and services lay the foundations for modern working.

The two facility management divisions where you will undertake your training organise the provision, management and optimisation of GIZ’s buildings, outdoor areas and workplaces at our locations in Germany.

The course of study spans six semesters. You will acquire expertise in construction and building technology, digitalisation and facility management processes, facility service management, energy and environmental management as well as receiving a grounding in commercial affairs.

Facility management is a young sub-discipline of industrial engineering. The theoretical part of the course focuses on facility management, business management, buildings and technical plant, energy management and digital technology in facility management.

You will complete 10 to 12-week practical phases in GIZ’s facility management divisions. You will become familiar with the role and structure of the divisions. Later you will get to grips with our sustainable technical systems and the European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS). You will gain insights into the finances and service management of our facilities. You will be involved in the management of various processes and projects and will work on issues relating to digitalisation.

You will have the chance to undertake a six to eight-week assignment in one of our construction and infrastructure projects abroad.

Business administration (Bachelor of Arts)

Combining a course of academic study with in-company training at GIZ will lead you to an internationally recognised Bachelor’s degree. GIZ partners with a number of universities offering different course content. You can choose elective and follow-on modules to reflect your own interests in specialist areas of business administration. 

The course of study spans six semesters.

Degree course: Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, with a specialist focus on financial control;
students may also select a second specialist focus.

After your initial onboarding, you will be assigned for several months each to different GIZ divisions. We will make every effort to reflect your personal interests in the choice of divisions. Possible options include HR, financial controlling, procurement, contract management, health services and the regional and global divisions. This phase includes assignments within Germany and in a GIZ office abroad.

Enter a part of the company whose responsibilities stretch from coordinating digital transformation, digitalising business processes and selecting suitable digital solutions to IT security governance and data protection management – for the company, worldwide.   

The course of study spans six semesters. You will acquire expertise in the fields of software life cycle management, IT management and innovation as well as a sound understanding of business processes. 

The course teaches essential business information systems. This includes well-rounded knowledge of common methods and concepts as well as databases and distributed systems. You will also acquire skills in business processes and project management, business administration and software development.

Data science is an interdisciplinary area of study. In the theoretical part of the course, the focus will be on areas including big data, cloud computing, data visualisation, data management, machine learning and artificial intelligence. You will also acquire methodological skills in business processes and project management, business administration and software development.  XXX
