PCG holds UAV simulation exercise in Zamboanga City
The PCG conducted a three-day simulation exercise on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), 25-27 June, at the PCG Regional Training Center in Zamboanga City, facilitated by the GIZ Project PCG Phase II, funded by the German Federal Office through the Enhancement Initiative (Ertuechtigungsinitative).
The exercises served to validate the processes and protocols outlined in the UAV Doctrine draft and operations of the UAV Squadron and concerned units within the PCG, covering UAV regulations, flight planning, operational techniques, and practical applications of UAV Doctrine protocols. Participants included PCG personnel from the CG Aviation Command, Office of the Deputy Chief of CG Staff for Operations, Office of the Deputy Chief of CG Staff for Intelligence, and CG Legal Service. Observers in attendance were personnel from PCG Command Center, Office of the Deputy Chief of CG Staff for Strategic Studies and Modernization, CG District Southwestern Mindanao, CG District BARMM, Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom), and Joint Task Force Zamboanga.
The two drones donated by the German Federal Government in 2022, complemented by GIS Processing using Agisoft Software procured through the Project in November 2023, were used during the exercise. The event included courtesy calls of the Project Team to Raul M. Regondola, Chaiman and Administrator Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone and Freeport; Colonel Lambert Jonathan Gesolgon, Acting Chief of Unified Command Staff of the WestMin Com;n and CG Commodore Marco Antonio P Gines, CG District Commander of Coast Guard District BARMM and Southwestern Mindanao.
