Bangsamoro Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform signs MoA with GIZ
The Bangsamoro Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), in partnership with GIZ, the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA), and Pambansang Kilusan ng mga Samahang Magsasaka (PAKISAMA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost agriculture in the region. This event took place in Cotabato City, highlighting the collaborative efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and promote peace in Mindanao, particularly in the Bangsamoro area.
Minister Mohammad S. Yacob, alongside key representatives from the partnering organizations and the GIZ SPADe Project, emphasized the commitment to economic development and the significant role of farmers, fisherfolk, and agrarian reform beneficiaries. The initiative also focuses on addressing challenges in agriculture and fisheries, with projects like the Integrated Diversified Organic Family Farming System-Value Chain Development (IDOFFS-BARMM) that is spearheaded by the GIZ Implementing Partner PAKISAMA.
This partnership, supported by the SPADe-MinPAD RISE project, co-funded by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), signifies a collective dedication to ensuring no one in BARMM is left behind and underscores the importance of agriculture in peacebuilding and economic growth in Mindanao.
