From distress to rehabilitation: The Social reintegration of Mr. Mama through to the GIZ-PESoP project.
Mr. Mama Moumie, a 38-year-old resident of Foumban with a physical disability, fell victim to a burglary that left him without his work materials and primary means of livelihood. Unable to pursue other activities due to his condition, he found himself entirely dependent on donations from friends and acquaintances. This hardship plunged his household under severe financial difficulties, threatening the stability of his marriage.
In response to these challenges, he participated in the PESoP project’s beneficiary registration and profiling process, where he received vocational retraining in shoemaking. Following intensive training, he was provided with a starter kit and benefited from six months of follow-up and coaching to ensure the sustainability of his business.
Thanks to the training and startup support, he successfully revived his business, resulting in significant improvements in his daily life. His income has increased, enabling him to provide food for his family, fund his wife’s training, and cover his children's school fees.
