BioClime – Support project for implementation instruments of the Global Biodiversity Framework and the Paris Agreement
Biodiversity loss and climate change must be approached with determination. The goals of the CBD Global Biodiversity Framework and the UNFCCC Paris Agreement cannot be achieved without faster progress in implementation and utilisation of the synergies between climate and biodiversity protection.
National and international efforts to revise national biodiversity strategies and action plans, national climate protection contributions and long-term strategies must be intensified.
The project supports the BMUKN and four partner countries in implementing the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
Furthermore, it contributes to developing integrated approaches and synergies between biodiversity protection, climate protection, and adaptation through gender-specific exchange formats and knowledge products. This includes, for example, better alignment of national biodiversity and climate strategies. Through sharing of learning experiences and knowledge exchange, the project also supports international initiatives, partnerships, and knowledge networks for biodiversity and climate protection as well as ecosystem-based adaptation, including, for example, the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership and the NDC Partnership.
Furthermore, the participation in international initiatives, forums and negotiations in the field of international forest climate finance and deforestation-free agricultural commodity supply chains is promoted.
