On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) implements the Career Path Development for Employment (CPD4E) project in partnership with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and other relevant stakeholders. CPD4E aims to to improve the employment prospects of young South Africans in a sustainable and increasingly decarbonised economy (Just Transition) by applying an integrated approach to employment promotion which has interventions focusing on the following areas:

  • Strengthening the supply-side of the labour market to improve the employability of young people in the country. 
  • Providing labour market demand-side support, specifically in area of MSME business development and support. 
  • Enhancing the employability of young people through targeted matching interventions to support better transitions from learning to earning 
  • Improving framework conditions in the labour market through innovation and learning. 
  • CPD4E seeks the services of a highly skilled and competent team of experts in monitoring, evaluation, research and communications with core competencies in using gender responsive approaches. Companies that have a history and a proven track record of at least five years of technical experience and at least three reference projects in South Africa in the last three years, are encouraged to apply to provide the following services:
  • Design and administer a survey study to participants in employment promotion measures and MSME’s in business support measures.
  • Develop a short survey tool and conduct electronic survey with participants in work placement.
  • Conduct qualitative research which includes designing data collection tools, conducting in-depth interviews and data analysis with key stakeholders involved in the project.
  • Present preliminary findings at two different workshops.
  • Develop a communications and marketing collateral.
