Implementation of Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Trainings for the City of Cape Town
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations. Its corporate objective is to improve people’s living conditions on a sustainable basis. GIZ has been working in South Africa since 1995. One core area of cooperation is climate and energy.
The Cities Finance Facility (CFF) is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Government of the United Kingdom, the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), and USAID. It is jointly implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group. The City of Cape Town (CCT) is a C40 member and has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. To achieve this goal, the city has identified the need to create more sustainable and efficient processes and behaviours in its facilities. The shift towards a low carbon-built environment is supported in policies across the City, in particular the City’s energy strategy and climate action plan.
Against this background CFF agreed to fund the development and implementation of three training courses to capacitate CCT officials on energy efficiency and sustainability related topics focused on the build environment and urban planning. The prospective service provider is requested to design, deliver and host the below training courses over the project period of 3 months from August-October 2024.
- Implementing sustainable precincts – facilitated stakeholder workshop
- Join the smart office movement – development of on demand online training based on existing content
- EPC to net-zero training – revision of existing training material and execution of life online training
GIZ invites eligible and professional companies or consortia with local presence in South Africa to participate in this tender.
