Young entrepreneurs discuss innovation and sustainability with ASEAN and Germany
JAKARTA, 11 December 2019 – In cooperation with the Impact Hub, Habibie Incubator, the German Embassy, with the support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, brings together more than 100 young entrepreneurs and start-ups for a forum on innovation and sustainability at the Ritz Carlton Pacific Place.
Titled “The Good Times for International Cooperation: Creating an Innovation Community between ASEAN and Germany”, the event also sees the participation of notable representatives from the German Embassy and ASEAN Secretariat.
"The ASEAN-German Innovation Community provides an excellent platform for young entrepreneurs to network and learn from each other, as they start navigating a competitive, innovative and dynamic ASEAN. In an increasingly borderless market, it is important that businesses and policy-makers join hands in addressing emerging challenges and opportunities. As the first development partner of ASEAN, Germany is very pleased and committed to engage in this forum and help promote the start-up community in the region,” says Peter Schoof, German Ambassador to Indonesia.
In various sessions, participants share success stories and lessons in trying to set up and expand their businesses across the region. The ASEAN Social Enterprise Development Programme, an upcoming cooperation between the ASEAN Foundation, SAP and GIZ, will be formally announced during the event. The planned programme acknowledges the important role of youth-led social enterprises in shaping a vibrant and future-ready ASEAN. This is expected to be underpinned by knowledge transfers, mentoring, facilitation of market access and the promotion of fair and responsible business practices.
The event has been made possible with the support of several ASEAN-German cooperation projects. It is held at the side lines of the Indonesia Innovation Forum 2019, which has been organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industry.
