Appointment of a service provider for the production of cinematic video documentaries/movies for Lesotho’s ReNOKA programme

The European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) have commissioned the Deutsche Gesellschaft für International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to support the Government of Lesotho in the implementation of integrated catchment management. The sustainable management of Lesotho’s catchments are of critical importance for water, energy and food security not only in Lesotho itself but in the entire Orange-Senqu Basin and Gauteng Province, Southern Africa’s economic centre. Target areas of implementation include policy harmonization; institutional development; human capacity building and behaviour change communication, implementation of catchment rehabilitation measures, and support for data and monitoring. In doing so, the Action supports Lesotho’s national ICM programme and movement ReNOKA which aims to promote ICM in Lesotho to safeguard Lesotho as the “Water Tower of Southern Africa” and to ensure water security in the region.

Under ReNOKA, the GIZ implements amongst others awareness raising campaigns, Communication & Visibility activities and develops lessons learned and good practices for dissemination at SADC level. Furthermore, the Action has the contractual obligation to communicate its interventions and their impacts to stakeholders at the local, national, regional and international level, whilst adhering to the EU Requirements.

Tasks to be performed by the service provider

The Action requires the services of a video production company to produce cinematic, engaging documentary movies on the approach and impacts of ReNOKA. The short movies are meant to increase visibility of ReNOKA in Lesotho and the region and constitute a call to action for integrated catchment management.

GIZ seeks to appoint a reputable video production company with proven experience in producing high quality impact documentaries in the natural resource management sector, to provide the following services: Pre-production, production and post-production of:

• 8x short documentaries
• 1x summative documentary and 1 short version for the use at conferences, expos, etc
• 1x trailer
• 1x additional movie (5-7 min) for awareness raising activities through story telling e.g. folklore inspired centred around natural resource management

GIZ invites eligible and professional video production/film companies in Lesotho and SADC region to participate in this tender.
