VELA III strengthens high-quality Dual-Cooperative Training (DCT) through national and regional TVET networks
The third phase of the Vocational Education in Laos project (VELA III) hosted a strategic planning workshop in December, in Vang Vieng, Vientiane Province. A highlight of the workshop was the active involvement of participants in different interactive sessions and networking activities from the provincial to the national level. It also fostered a sense of ownership and mutual respect, emphasizing the importance of continuous cooperations to ensure sustainable outcomes and high-quality implementation of Dual – Cooperative Training (DCT) initiatives nationwide.
Key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, including the TVET Department of MoES, LNCCI, Dual-Cooperative Training Service Center (DCT SC), 13 TVET institutions, Vocational Education Development Institute (VEDI) and representatives from selected Provincial Education and Sports Services (PESS) and the Provincial Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), participated.
The workshop focused on establishing a clear and shared understanding of the project objectives, identifying changes, setting priorities, and developing strategies to improve Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Lao PDR. It also aimed to strengthen the national regional TVET networks and demonstrated how the VELA III - project goals align with both, national and global strategies.
