GIZ officially hands over equipment to Philippine Coast Guard for maritime law enforcement
German Ambassador to the Philippines, Dr. Andreas Pfaffernoschke led the ceremonial handover of equipment and the reporting of the milestones of the Support to the Philippine Coast Guard in Securing the Rules-based International Order in the Indo-Pacific Phase 2 (PCG P2) Project at the Philippine Coast Guard Headquarters.
The PCG P2 Project, which ends this year, is funded by the Federal Foreign Office through the Enhancement Initiative and is implemented by GIZ Philippines and the Pacific Island Countries. During the event, the German Ambassador thanked the PCG and the GIZ for a successful cooperation that included the procurement of advanced drones and other equipment, and as well as capacity building and knowledge sharing activities that benefited not only the PCG, but also other maritime law enforcement agencies.
During the event, Mr. Maurizio Noll, the PCG P2 Project Manager talked about the milestones of the project which included procurement of UAVs and other equipment to support PCG operations; capacity building activities on UAV, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Digital Evidence and Curriculum Development; development of the PCG UAV Doctrine Draft and the PCG Data Privacy Manual Draft; and the development of the PCG Digital Evidence Curriculum and supplementary learning materials for the Maritime Law Enforcement.
