Concept Note and Detailed Design for a demonstration project in Esikhaleni

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) and the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) and funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the Government of Germany, implement a global programme called Cities Adapt.

The Cities Adapt Programme will be implementing one small scale demonstration project in the neighbourhood of Esikhaleni in City of uMhlathuze. The demonstration project should focus on climate change adaptation with an element of Nature based Solutions (NbS), with the aim of improving the climate resilience of the neighbourhood.

Cities Adapt is seeking to appoint (a) qualified service provider(s), to develop a concept note and a detailed design for the pilot project in eSikhaleni and optionally provide supervisory services.

Through assessments and research, conducting a pre-feasibility and feasibility study on the most suitable and applicable interventions, develop a conceptual design of the final selected measure(s) that would be most suitable for the location, making use of a mix of green and/or hybrid (green and grey) approaches.  

 

Deliver a final package of a site report which includes a site description, problem statement, findings, technical drawings (preliminary sketches and plans with specifications construction diagram which is a necessary step that leads to the construction project plan), building materials needed, costs, and details for further construction (including timelines for project delivery).
