Promotion of Sustainable Agricultural Practices – Review Workshop by the GIZ Project “Climate Protection through Avoided Deforestation” (CliPAD)

The GIZ CliPAD project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), recently held a successful review workshop on the approach “Promotion of Sustainable Agricultural Practices” in Vang Vieng. The event was hosted by the Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Office of Luang Prabang.

The workshop brought together 74 participants from six provinces and Vientiane Capital to exchange on lessons learned from the project implementation and discuss strategies for further supporting sustainable and deforestation-free value chains in Lao PDR. The workshop featured insightful presentations from Helvetas, the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), the National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI) and the Department of Agriculture (DoA), enriching the discussions on the challenges and opportunities related to sustainable agricultural practices.

Thanks to the strong commitment and active engagement from the project owners, the existing project guidelines will now be further enhanced to continuously serve rural communities by promoting environmentally friendly and economically profitable crops and production systems, with the continued support of all project stakeholders.
