Advisory Board of the CEGGA Programme (Phase II) Endorses Achievements

Vientiane, June 25, 2024, The Advisory Board of the Team Europe flagship programme "Citizen Engagement for Good Governance, Accountability and the Rule of Law" (CEGGA II) held its second meeting to endorse key achievements of the past year and priorities for 2024/2025.

In the morning, the CEGGA Advisory Board invited stakeholders from the governance sector to jointly review achievements and discuss strategies and synergies for enhanced collaboration. In the afternoon, members of the Advisory Board endorsed the status of implementation and achievements, including the CEGGA II mid-term review results, as well as the proposed operational plan and milestones for 2024/2025.

This year's Advisory Board was co-chaired by H.E. Nisith Keopanya, Vice Minister of Home Affairs, Lao PDR, and Ms. Ina Marciulionyte, Ambassador EU Delegation, on behalf of Team Europe partners. The meeting was attended by representatives from the programme’s executing agency, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), Team Europe partners Switzerland, Germany, and the European Union, GIZ and key implementing partners at central and provincial level.

Team Europe partners expressed appreciation for the significant achievements and positive results of the CEGGA II mid-term review, highlighting the alignment with national programming, excellent cooperation, and significant contributions to improving citizen-state interaction.

The CEGGA Programme is a joint initiative of the Government of Lao PDR and its “Team Europe” partners, Switzerland, Germany and EU. It has been the first flagship programme of Team Europe’s joint implementation approach in Laos in the spirit of working better together. Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) has been tasked to jointly implement the programme with MOHA and the concerned Lao partner institutions to achieve the overall objective to increase citizens’ engagement in the national development process of Lao PDR, through the promotion of good governance, and the rule of law, and access to justice.
