Third Technical Coordination Meeting of Phase II in Lao-European flagship programme in the governance sector

Vientiane, 5 June 2024: Development and Implementing Partners of the Lao-European flagship programme “Citizen Engagement for Good Governance, Accountability and the Rule of Law” (CEGGA II) review the progress and endorse milestones and operational plan for the upcoming year.

The meeting was convened by the CEGGA Secretariat, headed by the Cabinet Office of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA). It was the second Technical Coordination Meeting (TCM) of the CEGGA II Programme. The TCM served as an exchange forum for Lao and Team Europe partners to discuss the progress of implementation and the priorities for the upcoming year. It brought together the main implementing partners of all three programme components from the central level as well as from the two partner provinces of Khammouane and Luang Prabang, namely of the legislative branch, the home affairs and justice sectors, and representatives of Switzerland, Germany and the European Union (EU) together with GIZ staff.

The meeting proceeded in a lively atmosphere.  Participants highlighted that key partners’ priorities are well reflected in the milestones and work plan of the programme as well as innovative approaches for the efficient use of resources. In conclusion, participants endorsed the operational plan and milestones for 2024/2025.

The CEGGA II Programme is a joint initiative of the Government of Lao PDR and its “Team Europe” partners Switzerland, Germany and the EU. Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been tasked to implement the programme to achieve the overall objective of increasing citizens’ engagement in the national development process of Lao PDR through the promotion of good governance, the rule of law and access to justice.
