SPADe holds Asian Farmers Association Gender and Development Training of Trainers Workshop
SPADe is co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), which manages Grant Agreements with implementing partners in all six regions of Mindanao.
Among the Implementing Partners, the Asian Farmers Association (AFA) held a Gender and Development (GAD) Training of Trainers workshop with 40 participants, of which 68% are women, who were actively engaged in a transformative training program across 15 cooperatives in Regions 10, 11, 12, and 13.
One major component of the GAD training included the review of the Violence Against Women and Children Act followed by discussions on how to best incorporate issues such as Gender-based Violence (GBV) and Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) in upcoming gender sensitivity trainings for cooperatives. This training, executed in collaboration with five cooperative federations and two networks, is a vital component towards empowering women and youth through the promotion of inclusive agricultural cooperatives and value chains to foster sustainable peace and development in the agricultural sector of Mindanao.
