Annual Technical Exchange Workshop between Industry Advisory Boards

To strengthen effective operation and enhance cooperation between Industry Advisory Boards (IABs), on September 8, 2023, more than 40 delegates from 20 IABs including company representatives, rector boards and business cooperation officers of 11 partner colleges in the Programme “Reform of TVET in Vietnam” – GIZ participated in the annual Technical exchange Workshop between IABs in Ho Chi Minh City.

During the workshop, delegates actively engaged in working sessions to do a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) of the current IAB constitution in order to come up with solutions to upgrade the constitution and operate IABs more effectively. Mechanism, methods and tools to coordinate between IABs were also discussed and proposed to enhance the cooperation and maximise information exchange and resource sharing between IABs. By doing so, more companies will participate in the long term, maintaining IAB activities sustainably in the future. Application of digital tools in IAB activities was a solution which received a lot of delegates’ attention.

Mr Nguyen Duc Luu, Rector cum President of IAB at Bac Ninh College of Industry shared his thoughts: “Annual IAB workshop is a valuable chance for members of IABs to extend their network and share information, collect practical ideas which can be later applied at the college.”

Mr Tran Thanh Hung, Director of Song Hung Thuan Ltd. Company, confirmed the above statement: “Our company is ready to coordinate with the college to participate actively in IAB, together we develop training programmes, implement in-company training phases and assess trainees’ capabilities.”

This activity was held within the component “Supporting High-Quality TVET Institutes”, supported by the Programme "Reform of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Viet Nam”- on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the Vietnamese Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET).
