Enhancing coordination for a plastic-free ocean: 3RproMar holds Regional Workshop and Project Steering Committee Meeting
With the "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle to Protect the Marine Environment and Coral Reefs" or 3RproMar Project, GIZ, on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, cooperates with the ASEAN for the protection of the marine environment by improving implementation capacities for reducing land-based waste leakage
As a transboundary issue, the efforts to turn the tide against marine litter requires effective coordination and an integrated approach at the regional and national level. Thus, 3RproMar had its 2nd Regional Workshop on 22 May and its 3rd series of Project Steering Committee (PSC) Meeting on 23 May in Indonesia, back-to-back with the 24th ASEAN Working Group on Coastal and Marine Environment (AWGCME) Partnership Meeting.
With about 140 participants, the workshop also launched the Regional Knowledge Management Partnership among the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and the Norsk institutt for vannforskning (NIVA).
