Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi)
GIZ supports the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) around the globe in projects to improve the political conditions relevant to the economy and energy. BMWi also has a seat on the GIZ Supervisory Board.
On behalf of BMWi, GIZ implements projects covering a wide variety of topics in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe. They range from supporting the bilateral dialogue with China on electric mobility and advising on product standards in Brazil and India, all the way to the development of innovative green energy projects in Africa. In addition, GIZ supports the BMWi Special Federal Government Commissioner for the implementation of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in Germany. GIZ also provides the ministry with in-service training for managers in developing and transition countries. Another major focus is expert dialogues and partnerships with important countries in the energy sector, which GIZ organises for BMWi. GIZ also advises BMWi regarding EU-financed twinning projects. These projects are administrative partnerships between German ministries and authorities with government institutions of other countries. GIZ is commissioned by the Federal Government to support the National Contact Point for Twinning in Germany, which is based in BMWi. The Contact Point advises all federal ministries on issues concerning twinning.
