Boost your career and expand your horizons: experience the USA through the German American Internship Programme 2021

Bonn/Eschborn, 13 September 2021. How about New York or Los Angeles, or maybe somewhere in small-town America? In 2021, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is again running the German American Internship Programme (promoted by the German Federal Government), which offers young people in Germany the opportunity to gain initial professional experience in the USA. Young professionals, graduates from various disciplines and specialists in agriculture, wine-growing and horticulture can complete an internship lasting up to one year and gain an insight into local life and work.

In cooperation with its American partner organisation, Cultural Vistas, GIZ assists participants in applying for a J-1 visa, supports them during their stay in the USA, and provides financial assistance in the form of grants and travel subsidies with backing from the German Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. Participants can also apply to join a language course at their internship location. They are responsible for finding their own placements. Anyone up to 26 years of age who is interested in applying to the programme should do so as soon as possible.

Participation in the programme is still contingent on how the pandemic progresses.
