GIZ supports IDPs and refugees – including those who wish to return to their homes. In areas with large numbers of refugees, it offers medical and psychosocial care. Furthermore, it enables children to attend school and adults to receive vocational training.
Employment programmes such as Cash for Work offer people in refugee camps, e.g. in Jordan and northern Iraq, the opportunity of earning their own money. Their work also improves the infrastructure or the waste disposal in the camps and host communities. In northern Afghanistan and Colombia, for instance, IDPs receive support in integrating into the regions where they are living.
