Ingrid-Gabriela Hoven joins GIZ Management Board

Ingrid-Gabriela Hoven took up her position as a managing director of GIZ on 1 October. ‘We are extremely pleased that Ms Hoven is joining our Management Board and extend a very warm welcome to her here at GIZ,’ declared managing directors Tanja Gönner and Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel. 

‘In the many years I have spent working in international cooperation, I have come to know GIZ as a strong, innovative and highly committed enterprise whose staff work to make the world a better place with passion and great expertise,’ said Ingrid-Gabriela Hoven on taking up her post. ‘With the world facing acute challenges, GIZ is needed now more than ever. I am thrilled that I can contribute to shaping GIZ’s future in this position of responsibility and work with motivated colleagues on the tasks that lie ahead.’ 

Hoven has worked in international cooperation for more than 30 years. From 2004 onwards she had managerial responsibility for a range of areas at BMZ, including bilateral cooperation with Asia and Latin America and the reorientation of BMZ’s portfolio in fragile states and emerging economies. Between 2010 and 2014 she represented the German Government as Executive Director in the World Bank Group. In this role she helped to embed climate action and sustainability goals within the new World Bank reform process. She has been Director-General for Global Issues at BMZ since 2014, focusing in particular on displacement and migration, governance, climate change mitigation and sustainability.
