MIA – Media and Information Center of the Academy

Our media and services support you in your individual learning process—whether online or in person, on a specific training course or a topic of your choice.

As part of the Skills4Abroad program, the MIA is embedded as a campus library in the diverse learning landscape at the Kottenforst Campus in Bonn-Röttgen. But even if you are not preparing for an assignment abroad, our wide range of resources is available to you. It comprises 18,000 analogue and digital media on the countries of Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe, as well as the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Caucasus regions. The topics covered range from development policy, management & consulting, communication & negotiation, diversity, didactics, conflict, security & trauma, environment & society, accompanying family as well as world and national languages and some special topic areas. In addition, there are around 20,000 digital GIZ publications that you can discover in our library catalogue

MIA in a nutshell

The MIA’s on-site collection is located at Campus Kottenforst in House 2, on both the ground and upper floors. In addition to books, magazines, maps, posters, films, and games, course-specific learning materials are available.

All available media can be searched and ordered online via our library catalogue: https://mia.giz.de/esearcha/index.tt.html?ts=1669971436863

Media can be borrowed or returned at any time during the building’s opening hours using the self-checkout terminals on the ground and upper floors with a library card. You can get a library card for the lending terminals and advice on your research needs at the Info-Point during our service hours.

MIA’s digital collection primarily consists of Open Access books and journals on relevant topics, all of which—along with the 20,000 GIZ publications—are listed in the online library catalogue: https://mia.giz.de/esearcha/index.tt.html?ts=1669971436863

Additionally, via GIZ Wi-Fi and LAN, users at the Bonn and Eschborn locations can access the subscribed database Munzinger – International Handbook – Länder aktuell (only available in German):  https://online.munzinger.de/

We offer a guided tour of the learning landscape at Campus Kottenforst upon request. The aim is to provide orientation in the premises and to show you the learning opportunities, media and services available.
