Career Counselors Training

The VELA Project organized the Career Counselors Training, from 14-15 March at Lao Women Union and 108jobs company. The training was led by Mr. Keovisouk Dalasan, Managing Director of 108Jobs. This training targets career counselors from four DCT Flagship Colleges and a representative from the TVET Department, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to prepare students for careers that align with their aspiration and competency after graduation.

Why do Career Counselors matter?

Career counselors in TVET colleges are essential for helping students make informed career choices, acquire relevant skills, and prepare for successful employment after graduation. Recognizing this, the VELA Project aims to elevate their impact.

What did the training entail?

During the intensive training sessions, participants delved into diverse topics, including:

  1. Career Counseling Techniques: Unleashing the art of personalized guidance.
  2. Job Research Skills: How to research local employers and the labor market.
  3. OASA Results Utilization: Understanding student assessments.
  4. Job Applications Preparation: Utilizing necessary tools to prepare, tailor and build an outstanding CV.
  5. Project Management Essentials: Ensuring seamless execution among counsellors’ team.

Company Visit at 108 Group

In addition to engaging in group discussions and captivating topic training, the career counselors had the opportunity to visit the 108 Jobs office. The visit provided them with valuable insight into a company that specializes in job research and offers various training programs and events to empower job seekers in acquiring the skills necessary to pursue meaningful careers.
